When it comes to major events, expectations are high. Whether you’re organizing a wedding, a corporate event or a party, your guests are sure to arrive with a set idea in their minds of how the evening is going to unfold. That’s why it’s important, as chief organizer, to be well organized, ready for anything and creative.

One way for your event to stand out is to feature entertaining animation that is subtle enough to fit in with the rest of the event while standing out enough to attract participation. To help you pull this off, we’ve compiled a list of important elements to keep in mind when planning the animation for your event.

Identify Your Target Audience

The first important thing is to determine your target audience, which will then determine your choice of animator. Are you targeting young graduates, entrepreneurs, civil servants, people in the restaurant business? This is a key question to ask in order to figure out the right tone for your animation. Once you have the answer, it’s time to tap into your contacts for potential animators. If you can’t come up with anyone, don’t be afraid to reach out to your network for referrals. After all, it’s often reassuring to do business with someone from your circle.
Get the Scoop on Your Guests

To give your event the right personal touch, get to know your guests: Find out any inside jokes, highlights and/or people who stood out over the last year. Communicate these personal tidbits to your animator, who will then be able to integrate them into his/her script to make your guests feel involved.

Keep It All in Moderation

When it comes to animation, sometimes there’s too much of a good thing! We can all think of rambling speeches or awards ceremonies that we’ve had to sit through. To avoid subjecting your guests to similar torture, ask your animator to break up these moments with pauses, games or dancing.

No Wallflowers, Thank You

While you can’t expect your animator to be a world-class comedian, do mention that you want him/her to get guests participating in the event. Make sure that his/her script includes questions and other interactions with the audience. Your guests will no doubt appreciate feeling included.

Animator + DJ = Winning Combo

However fantastic your animator may be, the quality of your evening’s entertainment is also shaped by the music played. While your DJ and animator play two distinct roles, they are equally critical to the success of your event. You want to make sure that, in addition to playing music, your DJ can also work the room from time to time.

Remember: While it is important to carefully select your animator, he/she will only be as good as the guidance you provide. Do present him/her with a detailed plan of the mood and direction you want your event to take. You will, in turn, enjoy the peace of mind that yourand your guests’expectations will be met.

Hiring the right animator is not easy. If you still feel like you could use some help, don’t hesitate to reach out to Happening.ca. We are sure to have just the talent you need to wow your guests.
