At HAPPENING.CA, we believe that teamwork is at the heart of any success. To help you get to know our team a little better, every month, we showcase a different person behind HAPPENING.CA. This month is your chance to meet the creative and divine Isabelle!

How long have you worked in the event planning industry?

Hmmm… For more than 13 years… wow… it feels like yesterday!!! My first gig in show production for Solotech lasted 7 years, after which I shifted over to event planning.

What’s your favourite step in the event planning process?

I love that moment when, after putting together a turnkey project for an event, the client calls me to tell me it’s exactly what they wanted!

No joke, I love creating customized events that showcase a client’s brand, a key moment for the organization, or simply a theme or a colour that my client wants to show off.

What are some of your favourite event ideas?

Anything with a WOW! factor. I like events that let people forget about their day-to-day stuff and immerse themselves in another world. Events where guests are not just spectators but participants in a multitude of ways (photography, artistic design, costume, food, interactive technologies, etc.)

Who are you outside of the world of events?

An epicurean mom who loves her man, her daughter, traveling, painting, jewelry making, photography, good food, good wine (mmm… wine), music (I could use more space on my computer!), nature (long live the cottage life!!), the spontaneous moments, laughter, being surprised, cycling, summer (a lot!!), the ocean, rain storms, movies and fantasy series and getting up in the morning with nothing planned… nothing beats that!!

You’re a very talented woman. What are your tips to help others stimulate their creativity?

Get a smart phone!! ;o)  It’s an incredible tool for:

  • Jotting down any ideas that come to mind (on the spot)
  • Taking pictures of things you find cool, good ideas that you see, or useless knick-knacks that are totally irresistible.
  • Surfing the Internet to find answers to all your questions like “I wonder how to do…” or “I wonder where to find…”
  • Opening a Pinterest account to find a ton of cool ideas and to share your creativity with the world.
  • Remembering that we don’t always succeed at the first try. Success sometimes takes time, so don’t be afraid to give it another go!!

Of course, you can always carry a pencil, paper, a laptop and a camera around with you… but those things take up a little more room.

For the rest, keep your eyes wide open and force yourself to see things differently…there are tons of surprises awaiting you.

In Brief:

Your next creation: A painting…or maybe some jewelry… not sure, as it really depends on my mood!!

Early bird or nightowl? Both…there aren’t enough hours in the day to do everything that I want!

Your sport: Cycling, playing in the water, and just recently, climbing.

Coffee or tea: Wine… but a good cup of coffee or tea is just as good.

Your dream: To have as few regrets as possible and to continue soaking up life. My life is truly great, so I take the rest day by day!!

One word to describe HAPPENING.CA: Surprising!!
