Autumn is a bit like back-to-school time for us. The summer festivals have packed up their tents, and everyone is back with their heads full of projects: product launches, corporate galas, evenings designed to impress without looking like you’re trying too hard.
We’ve spent the last few months keeping a close eye on what’s happening elsewhere, listening carefully to new requests, and working hard to design things that really excite us. The result? Five event trends that we that we adapt to our own style.
At Happening, we’ve been scrutinising emerging trends and market expectations to design events that are ever more inspiring and memorable.
1. LIGHTING STEALS THE SHOW (WITHOUT STEALING THE SPOTLIGHT)

Northern Star, music festival. In collaboration with KM Driven events
Gone are the days of ‘basic’ lighting that illuminates a room like a grocery store parking lot. We’re all about lighting that tells a story: dancing shadows, architectural projections that transform an ordinary wall into a work of art, ambiances that evolve throughout the evening like a visual soundtrack.
The idea? That your guests remember how they felt, not just what they saw.
2. WHEN AN EXHIBIT BECOMES AN EXPERIENCE
Use of freestanding walls for Singapore Heritage Night at the Grand Quay in Montreal
Earlier this autumn, our team designed a custom exhibition area for a client who wanted to present their story in a way that was both elegant and accessible. The goal was to create a space that would attract visitors, guide them through the exhibition, and showcase the content, without cumbersome structures or unnecessary artifice.
Design and structure
We produced a series of freestanding 8-foot-high partitions, articulated in an accordion shape. This configuration provides: natural stability, without additional framing or anchoring; visual depth that punctuates the visitor’s journey; a subtle effect of movement from one panel to the next. Each surface was covered with a textured self-adhesive canvas, reminiscent of an artist’s canvas, a distinguished finish that enhances the visuals and portraits printed edge to edge, as in a gallery.
Integrated lighting
Each module included a discreet directional spotlight installed at the very top of the panel. These light sources, adjusted to create warmth, highlight the images without glare or reflection. This installation creates a museum-like atmosphere, perfectly calibrated as much for ease of reading as for the visual impact.
A flexible, high-end result
This system offers an ideal solution for corporate exhibitions, brand presentations, or temporary narrative spaces where aesthetics and fluidity are essential. By combining design, production, and installation, Happening once again demonstrates its ability to design customised environments that tell a story and reflect each client’s identity.
This project perfectly illustrates our approach: creating spaces that speak for themselves.
3. BYE BYE PASSIVE AUDIENCE

Our booth at the Salon Expérience 2025
Gone are the days when people sat quietly in rows to ‘watch’ something. Now they want to participate.
Interactive performances, hands-on installations, co-creation spaces, experiences that are built in real time with the audience… We design events where the line between ‘those who put on the show’ and ‘those who watch it’ becomes blurred. And that’s exactly where the magic happens.
4. CUSTOMISED, NOT COPY-PASTE
Creation of bespoke digital content for Singapore Heritage Night at the Grand Quay in Montreal
Your guests no longer want generic events that could be recycled from one client to another by simply changing the logo. They want to feel that it is made for them.
Unique scenography, targeted entertainment, intelligent digital integration – we work on each project as if it were the only one in the world. Because, technically, it is.
5. THE GREAT RETURN OF THE “WOW” FACTOR

Étoile du Nord, festival de musique. En collaboration avec KM Driven Events
After years of dealing with constraints and reduced formats, we collectively want something big. Something spectacular. Something bold.
Impressive sets, polished staging, immersive storytelling that draws you in from the moment you walk in – we rediscover the pleasure of creating breathtaking moments. Because life is ordinary enough as it is.
WHAT WE’RE WORKING ON IN OUR OFFICES THESE DAYS
We can’t tell you everything (we want to keep the suspense alive!), but let’s just say we’re working on projects that take these trends and push them a step further. With our usual touch: a little crazy creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for creating moments that linger long after the lights go out and we return behind the scenes to create the next WOW.
Stay tuned – we’ll show you soon. 👀
